SULFUR (Sulphur, in English)

Sulfur helps build the plant's proteins.
 

SULFUR--CROPS TO AVOID

Sulfur and lime sulfur should be avoided on sulfur sensitive plants such as grapes, apple, pear, blueberry, currants, gooseberry, apricot, brambles and vine crops. Damage include scorching, dwarfing of leaves, premature defoliation and reduced yields.

Avoid using sulfur at temperatures higher than 80 degrees Fahrenheit and lime sulfur at temperatures above 75 degrees F.
 

SULFUR--DEFICIENCY

Sulfur deficiencies look similar to nitrogen deficiencies.
 

SULFUR--DUSTING

Dusting sulfur is a specifically formulation of sulfur used to control diseases on various plants. IT SHOULD NOT BE USED TO LOWER THE SOIL pH.

Elemental sulfur is used to lower the soil's pH. Also called garden sulfur. Sulfur is yellowish in color and often NOT water soluble. Burning sulfur has the smell of rotten eggs.
